HUMIDITY EFFECTS ON WOOD

Wood is a natural resource made of fibers that will naturally contract and expand with changes in humidity. This contraction and expansion of wood is normal and will not harm your floor as long as relative humidity (R.H.) levels are maintained between 35% and 55% and temperature between 65-75° F (18-24°C) for at least 3-5 days prior to installation and maintained after installation.

ACCLIMATION

Floors should be acclimated for at least 72 hours in the room in which it will be installed. Planks with any visible defects must be put aside for replacement for warranty coverage to apply. Once floor boards are installed, they are considered accepted and warranty coverage will no longer apply. Failure to allow flooring to acclimatize prior to install may cause/exhibit stress, cracks, cupping and squeaks.

COLOUR CHANGES & VARIATION

Hardwood flooring ages and matures over time with exposure to UV light. Most floors will darken and become richer in colour. To prevent spot darkening of floors, routinely rearrange area rugs and large pieces of furniture. Many wood floors will display variation in colour from board to board. Some floors will have more variation than others depending on the species. This is not indicative of any fault in the floor, but is a natural occurrence with any wood product.

MOISTURE

Water and wood do not mix. Any spills or liquids should be removed and wiped off your floor promptly and NEVER wet mop wood floors. Damage resulting from standing water or liquid is not covered by warranty.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Please refer to your Care & Maintenance guidelines for specific recommendations on different finishes.

INSTALLATION TIPS

To prevent damaging this flooring, avoid pounding on it with a rubber mallet during installation. Instead, use a tapping block against the edge of the plank.

Prepare the area! Maintain temperature between 65-75° F (18-24°C) and R.H. at 35-55% for at least 3-5 days before installation, during and maintain after installation. HVAC systems must be operational for at least a week prior.

Pravada Engineered floors can be installed on, above and below grade where proper care has been taken to ensure flooring conditions meet installation and warranty requirements.

Open all boxes, inspect and separate planks similar characteristics. You might want to have planks displaying mineral streaks installed in certain areas rather than others. Alternate boards for a nicer overall look.

Mouldings can be made out of planks! Ask your installer how.

Stack boxes horizontally on top of each other while installing boards. Keep them in the room where they are being installed.

PREPARATION

Remove wrapping and lay flooring panels out flat at room temperature for 48 hours. Check all panels for defects. Claims cannot be made for panels already laid. Ensure the surface to be covered with panels is clean, smooth and level. Uneven areas must be leveled. Do not install over carpets. Remove carpet along with any residual adhesive material and install on smooth, firm surface. A ‘Patch Test’ must be performed on concrete sub-floors. If there is any evidence of moisture, the concrete must be treated with an appropriate sealer. DO NOT install laminate floor if patch test reveals moisture build up, until concrete is sealed! It is recommended that a moisture barrier (Poly) be placed over all concrete sub-floors to protect against any possible moisture emissions.

MOISTURE BARRIER

To protect panels against moisture from surfaces where moisture is likely to occur, a moisture barrier must first be placed over the base surface. Use 6 mil (0.2mm) polyethylene film. Overlap the edges of the polyethylene by a minimum of 8 inches and seal the junction with moisture proof self-adhesive tape. Use on concrete floors and all floors below grade or other areas where condensation or moisture emissions may occur. Do not install panels in bathrooms, or other rooms exposed to excessive moisture. A moisture barrier should be installed over floors with radiant heat. Before laying the barrier, turn heat down to 15°C (6o°F) one week before. Keep temperature below 27°C (8o°F) at all times.

UNDERLAYMENT

Panels must be installed on top of underlayment. Use a good quality underlayment (Cork or High Density Foam). Underlayment seams should not overlap and should be taped with self-adhesive tape. If installing both a moisture barrier and underlayment, place the underlayment ON TOP of the moisture barrier, or use a reliable combination product if preferred.

MEASUREMENTS

Be sure to measure all floor surfaces with the required expansion gaps. Panel tongues are 5mm and must be part of the measurement when considering expansion gap. If preferred, you can cut off the tongue facing the expansion gap on the first row. It is also important to measure the room for squareness. If walls are not square, it is recommended that you use the longest, straightest wall as your line of reference, and draw perpendicular lines from it. *TIP: Draw your line at a distance from the wall more than width of the laminate panel so it is visible after you position your first row of panels. It is recommended that all installed panels be at least 12 inches (30.5cm) in length.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Please refer to your Care & Maintenance guidelines for specific recommendations on different products and finishes.

READ CARE & MAINTENANCE

INSTALLATION TIPS

Use a tapping block against the edge of the plank to prevent surface damage (DO NOT pound on it with a rubber mallet during installation).

For appearance, panels are normally installed so the length direction of the panels is the same as the length direction of the room. This will also reduce the amount of cutting required.

The use of spacers inserted between the panels and perimeter walls is recommended. The spacers should be removed after the panels are installed and before mouldings are attached to the walls. For rooms up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) in width and 40 feet (12.2 meters) in length, allow for expansion between 3/8″ and 5/8″ (10mm to 16mm) along each wall.

Draw your line at a distance from the wall more than width of the laminate panel is it is visible after you position your first row of panels. It is recommended that all installed panels be at least 12 inches (30.5cm) in length.

Fill the space around a pipe and obstacles with caulking in order to protect the exposed (cut) edge of the panel.

APPLICATIONS

IMPORTANT: Do NOT install Pravada Evolutionz ™ SPC in any exterior areas such as porches. Pravada Evolutionz™ SPC floors were designed for interior areas, including sunrooms.

CALCULATING YOUR MATERIALS

To determine the amount of material needed, measure area to be covered by floors (simply multiply width x length = square footage of the room). Also, measure transitions (like door entryways and nooks) individually (to be added to the previous area to determine total area to cover). Make sure to Include at least 10% extra floors to make up for waste, trimming and future replacement needs.

ACCLIMATION

ALWAYS acclimate your floors prior to installing them. The cartons must be stored horizontally and planks should remain in their closed boxes until installation. The room temperature should be kept between 60-80°F (15-26°C) for at least 48 hours prior to installation. The same temperature range should be kept during and for at least 24h after installation.

PREPARE TO INSTALL

Once acclimation process is done, open the boxes and check for colours. Inspect planks in optimal lighting and put aside defective planks for later use as trimming pieces to start and/or finish rows, after removing the defective portion of the planks.

UNDERLAYMENT

Pravada Evolutionz™ SPC comes with a 1mm high-density IXPE Foam attached and cannot be installed over separate underlayment.

LOCK SYSTEMS

Pravada Evolutionz™ SPC floors use industry patented click lock systems. The type clicklock systems may vary or change from time to time. Please check pravadafloors.com or contact Pravada Floors for up-to-date product information.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Please refer to your Care & Maintenance guidelines for specific recommendations on different products and finishes.

INSTALLATION TIPS

For a harmonious final look, it is recommended that planks get blended from multiple boxes while installing floors.

Best practices include laying down planks by referring to the direction of the longest wall in the room. It is strongly suggested that planks get staggered randomly in order to avoid aligning short edge seams.

You may walk on the new flooring right after installation.

Ensure that the indoor climate is always kept between 60°F-80°F (15°C-26°C).

BEFORE YOU START

WHEN TO INSTALL

Resilient flooring installation should be the last stage of any new construction or remodel project. Allow all other trades to complete their work before installing the flooring.

SUITABLE SUBFLOORS

PRAVADA EVOLUTIONZ® is suitable for use over properly prepared concrete, suspended wood, and other appropriate substrates indicated further in this manual. All surfaces require moisture testing.

ACCLIMATION

Flooring material and adhesive must be acclimated to the installation area for a minimum of 48 hours prior to installation. The cartons of flooring should be stored flat and on top of one another, away from HVAC vents, direct sunlight or any other condition creating extreme heat or cold.

HUMIDITY CONTROL

The installer must ensure that the room temperature and humidity are controlled. The HVAC system must be fully functional and operating to a minimum of 65°F (20°C) or a maximum of 85°F for at least 7 days prior to, during, and after installation. Once the installation is complete the temperature should not exceed 85°F (29°C). Humidity levels should range from 30% to 50%.

MOISTURE CONTROL

PRAVADA EVOLUTIONZ® WPC is a waterproof product, however, it does not work as a vapor barrier. Moisture tests are required. Crawl spaces must be covered by 6-20mil black polyethylene film (with min. 6″ overlapped joints) and sealed with moisture resistant tape. The site must also be properly cross-ventilated to a minimum of 1.5% of the crawl space square footage. Local regulations prevail where necessary and should be observed.

LOCK SYSTEMS

PRAVADA EVOLUTIONZ® flooring is manufactured to the highest standards of product quality, however, occasional manufacturing defects may occur in the product. Installer and owner are solely and jointly responsible for conducting a quality inspection of ALL pieces BEFORE installation. Ensure adequate lighting for proper inspection of color, finish and quality, observing sizes and certifying that all products have the same production number. Beginning the installation means that you have agreed with the material conditions.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Please refer to your Care & Maintenance guidelines for specific recommendations on different products and finishes.

READ CARE & MAINTENANCE

INSTALLATION TIPS

To ensure the cleanest cut, mark the top side of the material with an utility knife, bend the product and finish the cut through the rear.

A non-plastic adhesive floor protection is recommended to be used after installation to protect floors during construction.

After installation, light foot traffic should be minimized for 24 hours; point loads and rolling traffic for 48 hours and should utilize only slightly damp mop cleaning for 7 days, if needed.

Once installation is completed, ensure room temperature does not exceed 85°F (29°C). Humidity levels should be kept in between 30% to 50%.
